This past weekend marked Lisbon's Vol. 20, and pictured above is part of the poster that was produced for the event. See the full poster here, and catch more great PechaKucha Night posters on our poster Tumblr.

We are getting ready for a very special edition of Pecha Kucha Night Lisbon. We partnered with CML to produce the next edition at Largo do Intendente. This will be a free event and everyone is welcome. We are looking forward to see you there!

Many think of vandalism and graffiti when they hear the words "street art"...

But people like Mario Rueda see the city in a very different light. In "Empowering Street Artists, Activating Citizens" from PechaKucha Urban Innovation Month, we learn that public spaces are taken over by advertisements and corporations, but the artists, performers, and musicians who share their creativity and seek to delight fellow citizens are treated like criminals. Book a Street Artist is a platform which seeks to empower artists, and give back the city to citizens.

Architecture, Graphic design, Illustration, Music, Literature, Eco-Design and travelling, there will be a lot to watch this coming Friday at our Pecha Kucha Night edition in Lisbon. It is a promising edition full of surprises and very exciting presentations. Also, 2013 it's here & we are in a party mood so to celebrate a new partnership with Teatro do Bairro, we'll be having an After Party with a DJ set of Irmão Lúcia, one of our speakers.

The poster was designed by hello stranger, who will also be there.

You can't miss this one!

PKN Williamsburg Vol. 2 Presentations Tash Jefferies likes to dress in a colorful way and have big hair, in her work environment. In this funny presentation (from PKN Toronto Vol. 14), she takes a look at typical corporate profile photos, and tries to understand what the people behind them are thinking. In her presentation (from PKN Williamsburg Vol. 2), Lita Tirak tracks down the evolution of x-rays as a social medium and an art form. PKN Lisbon Vol. 15 Posters Today's addition to the Tumblr blog is the poster that was produced for this past Sunday's PKN Lisbon Vol. 15, a very special edition that celebrated the city's International Festival for Comics & Illustration. The poster illustration is by Joana Afonso. A while back we shared the flyer that we made for tonight's PKN Tokyo Vol. 96 -- our big Tokyo Designers Week edition -- and here's a "sister" image that was also produced, which is part of tissue cases that we will be handing out at the event. As with the original flyer, the photo is by Michael Holmes and design by Luis Mendo. Yes, we do love jumping, and we'll soon share the new flyer we've produced for our regular Tokyo events, which continues the trend. PKN Tokyo Vol. 96 Calendar As we mentioned yesterday, it's our big Tokyo Designers Week edition of PKN tonight (October 31) -- aka PKN Tokyo Vol. 96 -- and if you're in town, you won't want to miss it. Wednesday also includes the following three events: PKN Derby Vol. 7, PKN Mikkeli Vol. 1, and PKN Montevideo Vol. 8, and tomorrow we have PKN Bucharest Vol. 10.

PKN Curitiba Vol. 1 Presentations We kick off a new week of presentations with one from Curitiba (Vol. 1) and one from Cork (Vol. 3). In "Underground Food" (in Portuguese), Guilherme Caldas takes us on a tour Curitiba's lesser known culinary highlights. If you've been feeling like you need to get a bit more excitement in your day, try following Niall Doherty and his "Random Acts of Courage." PKN Mendoza Vol. 4 Posters We've got a few new posters on our Tumblr blog, including the ones for PKN Mendoza Vol. 4 (above), PKN London Vol. 6, and PKN Dnipropetrovsk Vol. 1, which debuts tomorrow. Videos Instead of sharing photos today, and since there seems to be an absolute boom in these, today we share a few teaser videos that have been produced for PKNs -- we love them so much that we often play some at our PKNs here in Tokyo. Below, teaser videos for PKN Curitiba Vol. 2, PKN Tel Aviv Vol. 13, and PKN Lisbon Vol. 14. httpv:// httpv:// Links

Calendar Tonight (Monday, May 21) you have your choice of the very first PechaKucha Night in the city of Muscat, Oman, or another blockbuster PKN (Vol. 13) in Tel Aviv. Tomorrow (May 22), Montreal will be hosting its Vol. 22, and Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine -- how's that for a mouthful -- will have its first PKN.

Orange County in the Middle of China, and a Storm Trooper Prepares for His PK Debut

PKN Toronto Vol. 15 Presentations The first of our two presentations today, "Inside Wood and Paint: The Heart of Making," comes from PKN Taos Vol. 3, and sees Patti Tronolone sharing her paintings and furniture pieces, linking the latter to her love of nature. The second presentation is Kotama Bouabane's "Chinese's Replication of Orange County" (PKN Toronto Vol. 15) in which he reveals a Beijing suburb that was made to look like Orange County in California. PKN Lisbon Vol. 14 Posters We've got two new posters on our Tumblr blog today, one for this Sunday's PKN Lisbon Vol. 14 (above), and one for PKN Kumamoto Vol. 3, which is set for June 1. Photos We of course have a few new galleries to share with you today, but also a fantastic teaser video for the upcoming PKN Guimaraes Vol. 2, above (produced by Damnworks).

And we're not quite sure what the significance of the following photo is (from Flickr user Kalexandersen), but with the title "On stage for a PechaKucha," it felt natural to include it. Links A couple of PK-related links to keep you reading.

Calendar We covered in yesterday's post what you can expect from tonight in terms of events (5 PKNs), but for the weekend, Saturday (May 19) will see two Japanese series with new volumes, with PKN Kitakyushu Vol. 6 and PKN Nara Vol. 2. On Sunday (May 20), there's the aformentioned PKN Lisbon Vol. 14, as well as PKN Mendoza Vol. 4. For a peek at what next week has to offer, have a look at the full calendar.

Flyer for PKN Lisbon Vol. 13 This wasn't the poster for Lisbon's Global Cities Week event -- you'll find that here -- but we do quite like this image/flyer that we found. One very interesting component of the event was that all tickets were printed on recycled postcards, and we assume that's what you're seeing above. A really great way to allude to the city nature of the event.

PKN Lisbon + Global Cities Week Lisbon will have one of the last Global Cities Week events, with its PechaKucha Night Vol. 13 happening tomorrow night (Sunday, February 26). It will take place at the Palácio Sinel de Cordes, and you'll find the presenters listed on the poster above (they haven't been added to the event page yet).

Poster for PKN Lisbon Vol. 12 PechaKucha Night in Lisbon Vol. 12 is set for October 2, part of the EXD'11 festival, and held at the Tribunal da Boa Hora. The poster was designed by Marco Balasteros.
