"Design is not just a commercial tool, it carries social and cultural values and influences."

In Idea Manifestation - A Poster A Day from PechaKucha Night Kuching Vol. 3John Huang discusses how his ideas come about. He illustrates his process of generating ideas and concepts. Along the way, he showcases some of the work he has created based on this method over the past year. We all have that creative juice in us; how to utilise it is the essential key.

"You might fall in love with quilling like me!"

In Let's Roll from PechaKucha Night Kuching Vol. 3XiangRu Ma shares about quilling - the art of paper rolling, how she got addicted and why you should start rolling too.

City Focus: Kuching

This week, Kuching has our City Focus. Situated near the old "Cat River" in Malaysia's Sarawak region, it's home to the capital's Cat Museum and serves as the main gateway to Sarawak and Borneo. Let curiosity get the better of your cat instincts by checking out Kuching's recent presentations. Meow!

Kuching is a little city on the island of Borneo where Art is a small but growing industry. Hence, we were pleasantly surprised that the first PechaKucha Night Kuching of 2016 that we organized last month on the 1st April 2016 was a huge success!!

Look at the amount of people that filled up the Granary Bar + Kitchen that night!

We had 10 presenters in different creative industries talking about how they found their passions and how they are pursuing it. Do watch them on our city's page! They range from photographers, collectors, painters, designers and so on.

The next PKN is scheduled on 1st July 2016, Friday 8.20pm. We're looking at a better, bigger and equally as inspiring / entertaining night. more pictures can be found HERE. :D

Till next time! Take care!

Non-Building Photos by an Architect, Urban Art Interventions, and the Launch of PKN Kuching

PKN Curitiba Vol. 1 Presentations PKN Williamsburg organizer Dale Weiss is an architect who also has an eye for photography. This presentation (from PKN Williamsburg Vol. 2) forms a collection of some of his favorite non-building photographs and what makes these photos special to him. Tom Lisboa is an urban artist, and as we find out through his presentation (in Portuguese, from PKN Curitiba Vol. 1), he loves working with points of view, invisible polaroids, and urban interventions. PKN Vladimir Vol. 8 Posters We have two new posters on the Tumblr blog today: PKN Vladimir Vol. 8 (pictured above) and PKN Gainesville Vol. 5.  PKN Kuching Vol. 1 Photos There are of course PKNs of all sizes, and Kuching's first PKN last week had a modest start -- you'll find a few photos here [Flickr] -- but it generated a lot of love from the audience, who immediately asked when the next edition would take place (soon, we hope). It also got some great coverage from the Borneo Post -- we're certainly happy to have Kuching join the craze.
