Teutonic Knights

BY MAREK CZECHOWSKI
@ VOL 7 ON DEC 28, 2011

Marek Czechowski is a traveler and researcher, and in his presentation he talks about the real history of the teutonic knights, who during the 13th century ruled the North of Poland. This is however a history that doesn't follow any school books or academic sources. This story reveals the very truth about the knights, who, according to Marek, were not able to build their famous brick castles themselves... Gaining spontaneous applause, Marek proves they had no necessary knowledge to do this, and that they had insufficient money, as well as insufficient building materials. (in Polish)

A Walk Through PechaKuched Koszalin

BY GALL PODLASZEWSKI
@ VOL 8 ON FEB 22, 2012

This presentation is by PKN Koszalin organizer Gall, and was done as part of our Global Cities Week. Here's how Gall describes it: "In my presentation I took the spectators for a walk through the well known places of the city, whose perception, though, has been modified in recent years through some young creatives. Windsurfing or bathing in the winter sea? (1-2) This is the kind of shock-feeling PechaKucha once brought to our small town. (3) Let's transform the industrial zone into a zone of culture! (4) Let's transform the 4-lanes main street into a livable public space! (7-8) Let's sweep the rubble and create meeting places! (9) Let's take over the monuments and enjoy them as people instead as politicians! (14-15) And in the last few steps, let's check out what's new in the local architecture! (17-20) On the slides 12-13 you can see the Koszalin's amphitheatre, the biggest venue in the city, which will host PKN Koszalin Vol. 9!" (in Polish)

11th PKN in Koszalin

11 presentations for the 11th Pecha Kucha Night in Koszalin. Without a doubt, we will continueGall Podlaszewski's great job.

It was a pleasure to see the Graal Pub's rooms crammed with so many people. It was better to come there
earlier and take a seat, but for latecomers, there was a transmission on a led display.

We didn't expect that so many people would be interested in this event, this reminded us our first steps and the crowd of people during our first event in the BWA Pub.Among the audience and presenters, we noticed a lot of new faces, however, nothing has changed, considering a pleasant ambiance full of a friendliness and an encouragement. Because of it, there was a chance for the youngest (Kuba Janiel and Martyna Szostak)to do a presentation (first time in the PKN history in Koszalin).Martyna struggled with a stage fright having told about her love to drawing and photography. She ened her presentation with a statement:"It's not enought to have only one passion". Kuba told about his authoric talk-show and encouraged to watch the celebrity interviews online.

For more than two hours, you could have listened to presentations about travels (Wojtek Słupczyński, Radosław Bąkowski i Irena Filipiak, Frytarda Dudzik), architectonicprojects (Mariusz Staszewski, Waldemar Waszkiewicz), how to help for homeless animals(Joanna Przybyło), about the activity of The Political Critique Club (Jacek Wezgraj),ang about joga (Kinga Chabros). But first presentation was on-line, made by our pioneer of PKN in Koszalin Gall Podlaszewski. He told about Indonesia, the place where he moved. We was pinch-hit for by Mateusz Prus in the role of leading. He was incredible.

Having had so much possitive energy, we are planning new event. We have just received an invitation to do next PKN in the narrow gauge railway station.I'm sure we will do it in a speeding train, or we will do one presentasion on every singlestation. We have another idea to do PKN in the theatre too.
The presentations on-line soon!
