Swiss photographer Charles Weber has been working for ten years on a series of night pictures which he creatively calls "Lightscapes". At PKN Heraklion Vol. 4 we hear that he enjoys photographing at night, when everything is calm and he can experiment with the colors that the artificial lights provide. Charles believes that beauty can be found in anything, and he enoys capturing surrealism and humor in his pictures.

Many cities are producing posters for their PechaKucha Global Night events, and Heraklion goes one step further by also creating the fun trailer you see in this post. As you'll see, the "hidden" rabbit motif of the event flyer shows up againt in the trailer.

Global Night in Heraklion

We're jumping for joy -- without a rabbit mask -- to the fact that Heraklion will be taking part in the PechaKucha Global Night on September 20, through the city's Vol. 4. Visit the official event page for more info, including the full list of presenters.

PKN Blue Mountains Vol. 2 Presentations Cindi Drennan is an Australian multimedia artist/director, who specializes in illuminated audiovisual environments and projection art for public art and events. Her work focuses on projection and audiovisual arts for architecture, public spaces, performance, and theatre. Her multi-disciplinary background encompasses over 25 years experience in filmmaking, illustration, animation, community arts, and interactive media. In her presentation (from PKN Blue Mountains Vol. 2), she discusses how community partnerships between artists, organisations, and businesses take time to develop. In his presentation (in Czech, from PKN Znojmo Vol. 1), David Lobpreis introduces the Denis d'or ("golden Dionysus"), the first electric musical instrument built in Znojmo, around 1750. PKN Lyon Vol. 4 Posters We have two new posters on the Tumblr blog today, one for PKN Lyon Vol. 4 (pictured above), and also the poster for tonight's PKN Ekaterinburg Vol. 5 -- you'll remember that on Monday we shared the poster for that city's upcoming Vol. 6. Video Here's a video to give you a nice feel of what last Sunday's PKN Heraklion Vol. 3 was like -- it's a teaser for a planned longer version. As organizer Olga Koutantou tells us, not only was it a great event, but there were more than 500 in attendance! Calendar Here's what you'll find in the calendar for tonight: PKN Cleveland Vol. 16, PKN Ekaterinburg Vol. 5, PKN Bozeman Vol. 4, and PKN Stockholm Vol. 35. Tomorrow is another busy night, with the following: PKN Ottawa Vol. 6, PKN Burlington Vol. 8, PKN Perth Vol. 10, PKN Bordeaux Vol. 8, and a special edition PK event in Amsterdam at the Stedelijk Museum.

PKN Heraklion + Inspire Japan Heraklion will take part in the Global PechaKucha Day - Inspire Japan event on April 16, and this event will actually be the city's very first PKN, and so we need to thank organizer Sarah Roesink for being able to quickly participate in our global Inspire Japan efforts.
