An Illustrator's Story, the MeetFactory Creative Platform, and Tel Aviv in Tokyo
Presentations In her presentation (from PKN Brisbane Vol. 27), illustrator and designer Jo Fallon talks about how her English and Japanese backgrounds have influenced her work, by sharing some of her illustrations and experiences. She also explains why it's important to choose your business card designs carefully. Matěj Al-Ali and Tomáš Moravec have together formed a creative studio in Prague called MeetFactory, and as you'll learn from their presentation (in Czech, from PKN Plzen Vol. 1), it has become a platform for opinions, workshops, and a place for ordinary meetings as well. Posters We end the week with three new posters on the Tumblr blog that are all for Vol. 10s, from the cities of Donostia (or San Sebastian, pictured above), St. Louis, and Gisborne. Powered by PechaKucha A special "Powered by PechaKucha" event is happening tonight (Friday, September 7, from 20:20) here in Tokyo at La Paz Loft (2-22-2 Jingumae, Fiction Bldg. 2F), produced by PKN Tel Aviv. The event is part of the month-long TEDER TEL AVIV-TOKYO 2012, for which PKN Tel Aviv organizer Anat Safran is currently in town. The event will feature presentations by a mix of Tel Aviv and Tokyo creators, as well as a presentation by PK co-founders Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham. Calendar Here's what to expect over the weekend on the PKN front: PKN Sioux Falls Vol. 4 and PKN Bangor, Maine Vol. 6 tonight (September 7), PKN Taichung Vol. 1 on Saturday, with PKN Heraklion Vol. 3 and PKN Kitakyushu Vol. 7 on Sunday.

PechaKucha Night in Brisbane Vol. 15 happens tonight (March 24), at the always popular Brisbane Powerhouse (Turbine Platform). From the presenters listed on the flyer (above), it looks like a promising night of presentations -- here's hoping we get to find out what a web psychologist actually does! The evening will also be promoting the "PechaKucha for Haiti" reconstruction efforts.

PechaKucha Night in Brisbane Vol. 13 happens tomorrow night (September 2), again at the beautiful Brisbane Powerhouse, and one of the presenters set to participate is designer Georgi Lewis. Pictured above, her latest work, a set of children's chairs and table cut form one single sheet of sustainable plywood -- everything fits together without the use of glue or screws.
