In between

BY JOACHIM FROST
IN BERLIN

Joachim Frost's work explores the space between architecture and art. The "in between" is what excites him most. This talk was composed of inspiring quotes, a selection of some of Joachim's projects and products and also a bench he built in Oshika, Japan in the middle of the woods. Joachim brought some art objects he created that day together with his 6 year old daughter Willy, which went on sale after the presentations - all money raised went straight to Haiti. Amazing how these little art pieces encouraged all guests, who already donated, to donate again - and to take something very precious home. Thank you, Joachim! www.stiks.de

Memory Space

BY CARO AND MIKE
IN BERLIN

Caro and Mike did a live performance with tape recorder, voice and sound effects: An audio visual work in progress about isolation and memory of the human body & spirit in the context of empty, abandoned spaces and places. They used the setting of a former Russian military base in the town of Wünsdorf to re-tell their story of ghosts that reappear in the form of voices, images and sounds. Kind of spooky!

Photos by A Guy Called Gerald

The nomadic life of a musician is one of countless stories.
The legendary English musician/DJ/producer presenting in this edition of Presentation of the Day (from PKN Berlin) is none other than A Guy Called Gerald. He discusses 20 photographs that are particularly inspiring or reminiscent for him; these include hypnoitising images of fire, shots of sunrises and sunsets from all over the world, analogue sound machines, times of strife and times of dreams, as well as an old photo from the 1960s of his mother. Hear him tell a new story with each photo introduced -- in a stream of consciousness fashion.
